Description
Arrival in Morano Calabro, a characteristic village, built like a pyramid on a hill in front of Mount Pollino.
It developed around a fortress whose ruins are now identified with the Norman Swabian Castle.
We will visit the Church of the Maddalena, the cloister of the Convent of S. Bernardino and the Naturalistic Museum of the Nibbio which recreates the environment and nature of the Pollino National Park. Lunch in a farmhouse to taste the typical dishes of the local tradition.
In the afternoon visit to the small village of Saracena. Small village on a rocky hill, which welcomes its visitors at the foot of Mount Orsomarso in the Pollino National Park. Strolling through the historical center you can breathe the air typical of ancient villages.
We will visit the Church of San Leone which was built on the remains of a Greek cross church inscribed in a square, which can be traced back to the Byzantine cult. At the end of the visit of the village we will take you to a typical wine cellar for a typical aperitif.
You will be able to taste the wines of this territory and especially the award-winning muscat raisin wine of Saracena.
The three glasses of wine offered will be accompanied by a board of typical cold cuts and cheeses.
